Editor’s note: This is The Points Guy’s permanent page for Amex Offers at major chain hotels. It will be updated as new ones are released.

If you have a hotel stay coming up over the next few months and hold an American Express card, listen up: You may be able to save some serious cash on your next trip.

Many American Express cardholders have reported they’ve been targeted for deep discounts at major hotel chains through the Amex Offers program. If you aren’t yet sure how Amex Offers work or are new to having an Amex — start here to learn the basics of when and how to use those offers.

Remember, Amex Offers depend on the date you charge the purchase to your card and not necessarily the date of travel. With hotel stays, you often don’t pay until the trip itself, though you may be able to book a prepaid rate to ensure the transaction date falls within the promotional period.

Also, keep in mind that these offers can be stacked with any promotions being offered by a hotel’s loyalty program. For instance, World of Hyatt is on the cusp of offering 2,022 bonus points for every two qualifying nights through its Bonus Journeys promotion and Hilton Honors is offering 2,500 bonus points on every stay through its Points Unlimited promotion so you can stack your way to more earnings and savings.

Let’s take a look at the current offers across various Amex cards. Eligibility for these offers is limited. Enrollment is required in the Amex Offers section of your account before redeeming.

One of the more intriguing hotel-related Amex Offers currently available is from Marriott.

Now through March 31, targeted cardmembers can get $50 back on a hotel stay of $250 or more at Marriott Bonvoy hotels in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. As an Amex Offer, this is tied just to the Amex that you use to pay the hotel bill and won’t impact your points earning or any other type of discount you may be eligible for regarding the room rate.

Hilton isn’t currently offering any Amex Offers that we can see on our accounts. However, targeted Amex Hilton cardmembers can currently earn a free night certificate after making $8,000 in eligible purchases by Feb. 28, 2022.

You can see if you’re targeted and register here.

Mandarin Oriental

If you book a luxury vacation this winter with Mandarin Oriental, you can get $100 back after spending $500 or more with this Amex Offer added to your card. This can equate to 20% in savings — you’ll just need to book by Jan. 31. This offer is valid at all U.S. properties, as well as those in the following European cities: Paris, France, Munich, Germany, Geneva, Switzerland, Barcelona, Spain and Madrid, Spain.

Bottom line

Any of the above offers can only be added to one card per account holder. You’ll want to check all of your cards first to select the one that offers you the best return on the purchase — or choose one that waives foreign transaction fees for any purchases outside the U.S. and its territories, if applicable.

Also, these are targeted offers, so you may not see them at all on your Amex cards. If you do, I encourage you to add them right away, since they tend to have limited enrollment and may disappear before the expiration date. Also, only 100 Amex Offers will be visible at a time, so if you’re at capacity, add offers to your card to see if any new ones appear.

If you don’t have an American Express card and don’t want to miss out on future offers like these, consider adding The Platinum Card® from American Express to your wallet. The card offers a welcome bonus of 100,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $6,000 on purchases in your first six months of card membership.

You might even be eligible for a targeted 125,000- or 150,000-point bonus offer using the CardMatch tool (offers are subject to change at any time). This offer even comes with 10x points at restaurants worldwide and when you “Shop Small” on up to the first $25,000 in combined eligible spending in the first six months of card membership.

You’ll also receive 5 points per dollar on flights booked directly with airlines or Amex Travel (on up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year) and 5 points per dollar on prepaid hotels booked on Amex Travel. As a Platinum cardholder, you’ll also receive complimentary Gold status with Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors, so your stays could be even more rewarding (enrollment is required for select benefits). The card has a $695 annual fee (see rates and fees).

If the Platinum Card isn’t for you, read our guide on choosing the best American Express card that suits your style as some come with no annual fee and are still a great pathway to start getting access to Amex Offers.
