Air France confirms new LAX lounge, reveals remade SFO lounge
- Air France confirms new lounge coming to LAX
- Refurbished lounge at SFO is already open
- San Francisco lounge is totally remodeled and expanded
There have been some pretty exciting lounge developments in California lately, especially in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Air France confirmed to TPG that a new lounge is coming to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Though they remained tight-lipped about details, an Air France spokesperson said it was in the works. "I can confirm an LAX lounge is coming, but can't share more on top of that," Air France's Julia Gordin said.
Thrifty Traveler first reported the news.
"The proposed lounge will be approximately 11,500 square feet, but the lease provides Air France the option to add 2,300 square feet to the premises," according to a Los Angeles World Airports report to the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners.
Construction will take at least a year, with the lounge slated to be built in the LAX Midfield Satellite Concourse at the west gates of the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
Refurbished Air France Lounge now open at SFO
The news comes as a newly remodeled and remade Air France lounge is already open at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The lounge opened June 16, near Gate A of the international terminal.
The lounge features more than 6,000 square feet with seating for up to 117 people — more than 900 square feet of additional floor space.
The lounge was designed by Air France teams in collaboration with the SGK Brandimage agency, with materials like wood and leather. You'll see lots of Air France branding and hints of the colors of the French flag with pops of navy blue, red and white.
The furniture also has a French theme, with Little Tulip chairs by Pierre Paulin, Ester bar stools by Patrick Jouin and Softshell chairs by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
Air France says the space was designed for maximum productivity with "intentionally designed and connected workspaces." That includes plenty of electrical outlets and seating configurations.

There is also a separate section for La Premiere first-class passengers.
Showers are available in the lounge, which is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Food and drink
The lounge features a French-inspired food buffet with items like croque monsieur sandwiches and boeuf bourguignon. Air France says it's "in the style of a Parisian brasserie," with the menu changing throughout the day.
There's also a staffed bar with French wines, Champagnes and draft beers.
How can you enter Air France lounges?
The Air France lounges are accessible to international first- and business-class passengers flying Delta Air Lines, KLM, Air France or other SkyTeam partners; they're also accessible to SkyTeam Elite Plus members traveling internationally flying in any cabin, including coach. Air France confirmed to TPG that lounges are also open to Priority Pass members; however, the lounge may refuse entry when the lounge is close to capacity.
