If you enjoy the World of Hyatt program, you might be interested in earning lifetime Hyatt elite status. But while travelers can obtain Marriott lifetime status at multiple tiers, there's only one Hyatt lifetime status tier. So here's what you should know about World of Hyatt lifetime Globalist status, including how to earn it and the benefits once you have it.

How to get Hyatt lifetime Globalist status

Lifetime Globalist status requires 1,000,000 base points over the life of your World of Hyatt account, which is no small feat.

Hyatt members earn 5 base points per dollar at eligible properties excluding Hyatt Studios and 2.5 base points per dollar at Hyatt Studios on eligible:

  • Room rates
  • Incidental charges made to the folio or room (which often include resort and destination fees, additional cleaning fees, spa services, food and beverage purchases, laundry charges, dry cleaning charges and telephone charges but usually exclude taxes and fees)

Many best ways to earn Hyatt points — including elite bonus multipliers, spending on Hyatt credit cards, buying Hyatt points and transferring Chase points to Hyatt — provide bonus points instead of base points. Bonus points are useful for redeeming but won't help you toward the 1,000,000 base points you need for lifetime Globalist status.

While many Hyatt loyalists earn most of their lifetime base points from hotel stays, you can also earn 10 base points per dollar on FIND experiences.

Assuming you only earn base points through stays at a rate of 5 base points per dollar, you'll need to spend $200,000 to reach 1,000,000 base points. Assuming you spend $10,000 and earn 50,000 base points yearly, you'll still need about two decades to earn World of Hyatt lifetime Globalist status.

Business travelers who frequent pricier cities or more luxurious brands like Park Hyatt might be able to hit this threshold quicker. However, if you're a price-conscious award traveler who loves booking Category 1 Hyatt properties for as little as 3,500 points a night, don't expect to earn lifetime Globalist status anytime soon.

How to check Hyatt lifetime base points

Unfortunately, you can't see your lifetime base points when you log into your World of Hyatt account. To check your lifetime base points, refer to your most recent account summary from Hyatt (you should get this by email each month). At the top of the email, you'll see your lifetime base points.

Bottom line

You won't qualify for lifetime Globalist status overnight. However, once you earn 1,000,000 base points over your lifetime, you're a World of Hyatt Globalist member for the rest of your life or until the program ends.

If your loyalty to Hyatt is built mostly on award stays or elite status earned from the World of Hyatt Credit Card (see rates and fees) or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (see rates and fees), then lifetime status might not be in the cards.

If you spend a large amount of money with Hyatt over the lifetime of your account, you may eventually earn lifetime Globalist status. If you do, you'll enjoy Globalist status — and an annual gift of four complimentary suite upgrade awards, five Guest of Honor awards and a Category 1 through 7 certificate — for the rest of your life, regardless of your activity each year.
