TPG exclusive: Patina Maldives, Fari Islands is joining Marriott Bonvoy
Patina Maldives, Fari Islands, located in the dreamy North Male Atoll, is one of those bucket-list hotels that captures the hearts of its guests and keeps them dreaming of returning for years to come (one look at photos of the property, and you can probably see why). So the fact that this resort is about to join the Marriott Bonvoy program is definitely some of the most exciting hotel news we've heard in a while.

On Thursday, May 15, the property will officially integrate into the Marriott system as part of the Design Hotels brand, which is a collection of independently owned and operated hotels. While the property will be a Marriott partner, Capella Hotel Group will retain ownership, and it will remain part of the Patina Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
Accommodations include 90 breezy and beautiful one-, two- and three-bedroom beach villas — each of which comes with a private infinity pool, naturally — as well as 20 Fari Studio accommodations located in a tranquil garden setting.
For those who really want to spread out, the two-story, three-bedroom Beach House is just the ticket, featuring a rooftop terrace and its very own 21-meter pool.

When guests aren't kicking back in their luxury accommodations, they can look forward to a variety of engaging activities, like using the hotel's Ocean Pearl two-person submarine, arranging a private and romantic beach dinner, fishing for fresh catch to prepare for lunch on a traditional dhoni sailboat and much more. Of course, relaxing at the tranquil private beach or swoon-worthy main pool is always an option, too.

The resort is also home to a whopping 13 restaurants and bars, so guests can try everything from a locally sourced plant-based menu to Japanese-Nordic fusion cuisine to burgers served straight from an on-site food truck.
With different benefits extending to all Bonvoy membership tiers, adding another fantastic hotel to stretch your points for a fifth-night free and get even more value in this top tier destination is well worth celebrating — and planning a trip around. We do not have details on points rates yet, but will add them once they come online. In the meantime, given the high price point of paid nights at the hotel, Marriott Bonvoy members can count on earning a ton of points on stays here.
Here's a snapshot of earning rates and member benefits for those in each tier of the Marriott Bonvoy program.

Unfortunately, points rates are not yet posted to the hotel's Marriott website as of publishing this article. However, cash rates start at $2,160 per night for a one-bedroom villa. Given those nightly rates, you can count on racking up a bounty of points on paid stays. What's more, even general Marriott Bonvoy members can count on benefits like complimentary daily breakfast, which can amount to tremendous savings.

Bonvoy loyalists familiar with the Maldives likely know that the hotel company also has a Ritz-Carlton outpost here, the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, another TPG favorite that's included on our list of the best Ritz-Carltons in the world. With a second Marriott property now added to the mix, it's nice to know that Bonvoy loyalists will be able to earn and burn points in this stunning — and often very pricey — destination. Hopefully once points rates post and if they're reasonable, it will be a good way to stretch those Bonvoy points even further in a spectacular destination, particularly if you can score a fifth-night-free redemption.
