Maybe you're bringing your dog on a trip for a logistical reason, setting off in search of new places to walk and run, or just can't bear to leave home without your furry friend. No matter the reason, vacationing with your pet can be a ton of fun.

That said, not all hotels are created equal when it comes to allowing pets and ensuring the two of you feel extra comfortable on the road.

So, we've done the legwork and rounded up some of the best pet-friendly Marriott properties. These spots really roll out the red carpet, letting both dogs and humans vacation in style.

If you and your pooch want to enjoy a gorgeous coastal setting, Delta Hotels Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort makes for an idyllic base on Vancouver Island, right across the harbor from downtown Victoria.

The hotel welcomes up to two pets per room (with a maximum weight of 25 pounds each). Note that pets are not allowed in suites. The front desk staff is there to welcome furry friends on arrival in the hotel's lobby, where you can spend time with your dog.

Dogs are even allowed to run and play off-leash in an area of Songhees Hillside Park, which is a short walk from the hotel. The hotel's many amenities include an indoor pool, tennis courts and a fitness center.

Rates at the Delta Hotels Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort start at about $275 or 37,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. There is a pet fee of 25 Canadian dollars (about $18) for two pets per night.

Watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean with your pup can be your nightly routine when you stay at The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta. It's one of Mexico's most pet-friendly Marriott properties, and it sits on 14 oceanfront acres on which you and your dog are free to roam.

You can enjoy seafood and international cuisine at the multiple on-site dining venues and relax from your dog-parent duties with a massage at the resort's lovely spa.

The hotel provides bowls and beds for your pet. While dogs (naturally) aren't allowed to join you in the hotel's two swimming pools, they're free to lounge on the pool deck and stroll with you on the beach.

Dogs up to 40 pounds are welcome at the resort, and there is a limit of two dogs per room.

Rates at the Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta start at about $250 or 31,000 points per night. There is a nonrefundable pet fee of $30 per night.

In downtown Tampa, many new restaurants, bars and parks are popping up around the burgeoning Water Street Tampa district. If you check into the Aloft Tampa Downtown — right along the Hillsborough River in the heart of the city's downtown business and entertainment corridor — you'll be in a prime location to explore the area with your pet.

Back at the hotel, there's an outdoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center for guests to enjoy.

The best part? You can stay with up to two dogs (maximum 40 pounds each) for no additional nightly fee.

At this Ritz-Carlton property, your pet is welcome to join you both on the sand (leashed) and inside your hotel room. Not to mention, it's one of Florida's finest oceanfront properties.

The hotel's dog-friendly rooms are on the ground floor. So, it's convenient to step out onto your patio and stroll down to the beach to catch the sunrise (one of the most beautiful and serene moments of the day in these parts).

You can have up to two dogs per room (each 30 pounds or less), and you must carry your dog in your arms when inside the hotel.

Amenities include a world-class spa (make time for a hammock massage), indoor and outdoor pools, and private boardwalk access to 13 miles of pristine beach.

Rates at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island start at about $1,000 or 69,000 points per night. There is a nonrefundable one-time $150 cleaning fee and a $20 per night pet fee.

Get ready to explore the city with your pet when you stay at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane in the heart of London's Mayfair district.

The hotel is an elegant, art deco gem that dates back to the 1920s, and it mixes the modern with the traditional. (Don't miss the excellent afternoon tea service in The Palm Court Restaurant.)

Pets are made to feel like regular royalty here. The hotel bar serves both cocktails and "dogtails," and there is a dog-walking service available upon request.

Green Park, right across from the hotel, is a beautiful spot to stroll with your pet.

La Concha Renaissance San Juan Resort feels like your very own beachfront playground in Puerto Rico. It's also a great launching point for exploring historic Old San Juan.

Not only is your dog allowed to stay with you in your room (as long as it weighs less than 50 pounds), but dogs are also permitted at The Loft Beachfront restaurant terrace, at Solera restaurant by the pool and on the beach itself (leashed).

Consider splurging on a room with a balcony and ocean views, and make time to enjoy the hotel's outdoor swimming pools when you're not lounging on the golden beaches.

Best for: Marriott Bonvoy members who want to be right on Main Street or travel with their pets. The hotel is in Breck’s historic district, which is slightly quieter than the slopeside areas but doesn’t sacrifice the spectacular views.
Why stay here: The rooms are larger than typical hotel rooms and they offer free breakfast — not to mention it’s a short walk to the shopping and restaurants downtown. A year-round outdoor pool and hot tub make this Residence Inn stand out from others in the chain.

After nonstop mountain adventures, dogs (and humans) can rest at the Residence Inn Breckenridge, right on the south end of Main Street in downtown Breckenridge.

Start your day with the hotel's complimentary breakfast buffet. Then, explore Breckenridge's many shops and parks, including Carter Dog Park, just an 11-minute stroll from the property.

An outdoor pool and hot tub are open and heated in every season. Plus, a free shuttle service can bring you right to the slopes, whether you're looking to ski, hike or mountain bike.

Rates at Residence Inn Breckenridge start at about $200 or 41,000 points per night. There is a one-time, nonrefundable pet fee of $100 for one pet or $150 for two but no pet weight limit.

It's hard to imagine a more convenient Manhattan location for a pet-friendly stay than the W New York – Times Square. From the hotel, you and your pet can easily stroll over to Central Park or the Theater District. Or, you can hop on the subway (for small pets only, kennels required) to venture farther afield in the city.

Pets get pampered here with plush doggie beds, pet toys and even a tasty turndown treat. The hotel allows one pet per room up to 40 pounds.

Enjoy a cocktail at the Living Room bar before hitting the town for a show, a fabulous meal or wherever else the city leads you.

Rates at W New York – Times Square start at about $379 or 53,000 points per night. There is a $100 pet fee per stay.

A no-luxury-spared Bay Area pet paradise awaits in the heart of San Francisco's bustling SoMa district. The St. Regis San Francisco, one of the city's premier luxury hotels, offers rooms with soaking tubs and rainfall showers.

The hotel's spa and indoor swimming pool are currently being renovated and are scheduled to reopen in 2024. However, you can relax by taking your dog for a walk at the nearby Yerba Buena Gardens or waterfront Rincon Park to enjoy views of the Bay Bridge.

The hotel provides pets with doggie beds and bowls, so Fido will feel right at home. The hotel allows two pets per room, and the maximum weight is 35 pounds.
