8 things to do when you get the Amex Business Platinum Card
Editor's Note
Once you've gotten The Business Platinum Card® from American Express in the mail, your work to unlock its lucrative benefits has just begun.
That's because you'll need to enroll for many of the Amex Business Platinum's benefits and make important selections to ensure you're getting the most out of its card's $895 annual fee (see rates and fees).
If you're interested in this card, now is a great time to apply. New cardmembers can earn 200,000 bonus points after spending $20,000 on eligible purchases within the first three months of card membership. This is the highest public offer we've ever seen.
Amex Membership Rewards points are worth 2 cents apiece, per TPG's October 2025 valuations, which makes this bonus worth $4,000.
Once you have the Amex Business Platinum in your wallet, complete these eight tasks to receive maximum value.
Select your airline for the $200 fee statement credit and 35% bonus
One of the top Amex Business Platinum perks is its airline fee statement credit of up to $200 for charges by the qualifying airline you select each calendar year (enrollment required). You can use this credit on anything from checked bag fees to airline lounge passes.
It's important to note that you must select your airline to receive the credit. To do this, simply go to Amex's website and choose from the list of eligible airlines.
After making your selection, you'll also receive a 35% airline bonus when you use Pay with Points. This is when you choose to redeem your Membership Rewards points to pay for all — or a portion of — an eligible flight through American Express Travel.

You're only eligible to receive points back when you book with your preselected qualifying airline, and you're limited to a maximum of 1 million points back per calendar year.
While you're technically limited to the airline you select for the entire calendar year, you may be able to change your selection by contacting customer service. Usually, you'll only be able to change your airline if you haven't used these benefits yet this year.

Enroll in business-related statement credits
The Amex Business Platinum features multiple statement credits directed toward business owners. You'll want to enroll in these to start earning statement credits back for your purchases.
To enroll for these statement credits, log in to your American Express account and select "enroll" for each perk.
- Adobe: Up to $250 in statement credits after spending $600 or more on U.S. purchases made directly at Adobe (from July 1 through Dec. 31, 2025, and for each calendar year after; subject to auto-renewal)*
- Dell: Up to $1,150 in total statement credits — up to $150 in statement credits each calendar year on U.S. purchases made directly at Dell, plus up to $1,000 in statement credits after spending $5,000 or more at Dell (from July 1 through Dec. 31, 2025, and for each calendar year thereafter)*
- Indeed: Up to $360 in statement credits per calendar year; allocated up to $90 per calendar quarter*
- Wireless telephone services: Up to $120 in statement credits per calendar year for U.S. services, allocated up to $10 per month*
*Enrollment required.

Plus, it's worth noting that if your business spends $250,000 on eligible purchases in a calendar year, you'll unlock these credits to use in the following calendar year:
- Up to $1,200 in statement credits for flights booked through Amex Travel
- Up to $2,400 in statement credits for American Express One AP payments
These are potentially lucrative and worth keeping in the back of your mind if you run a high-spending business.

Apply for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck
Frequent business travelers will appreciate that the Amex Business Platinum provides a statement credit to cover your Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application.
You'll receive $120 toward a Global Entry application every four years, or up to $85 toward PreCheck every 4½ years.

It's your best option to go ahead and apply for Global Entry, since TSA PreCheck is included in that program.
You don't have to enroll with Amex to receive this statement credit. Instead, you'll simply apply for whichever program you choose and pay with your Amex Business Platinum. Then, you can expect to see the statement credit automatically post.

Enroll in Clear Plus
Another solid perk for business travelers to maximize with their Amex Business Platinum is the Clear Plus statement credit.
First, you'll have to enroll for this benefit on Amex's website. Then, you'll receive up to $209 in statement credits toward Clear Plus each calendar year, which translates to a completely complimentary membership (subject to auto-renewal).
Clear Plus members receive entry to a dedicated lane at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints with Clear. Then, you simply input your biometric data into a kiosk and move forward. This can be a huge time-saver.

Plan a stay with Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection
The Amex Business Platinum added a hotel statement credit with its 2025 refresh, so new cardmembers will want to start planning a trip to ensure they maximize it.

Cardmembers receive up to $600 in statement credits per calendar year (earned as up to $300 semiannually) on prepaid American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection bookings with Amex Travel when you pay with your Amex Business Platinum (Hotel Collection stays require a two-night minimum).
FHR and THC stays include multiple elitelike perks, such as complimentary breakfast, room upgrades (when available) and more.
This perk models the benefit on the American Express Platinum Card® and is potentially lucrative for business owners who frequently travel.

The perks depend on the program, but you could get upgrades, priority service and more.
