Flash Sale: Holiday Travel From $99 Each Way on Virgin America

Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.

For all of those who have yet to book Christmastime travel — this one's for you. Virgin America has shared the details of a flash sale it's running through Thursday December 8, through which you can book seats in the airline's Main Cabin Select seats from just $99 each way on select routes, including dates just before and just after Christmas. First-class seats are on sale as well. Availability is limited, but there are definitely some great deals to be had. In some cases, this promo has made Main Cabin Select seats cheaper than regular economy seats on the same flight, as you can see below. Since these fares are only available on Virgin America's site, you're unfortunately unable to use the Visa Infinite airfare discount or 50% Amex points rebate with this flash sale.

Note these important limitations from Virgin:

For travel solely between points in the Continental Western Region (LAS/LAX/PDX/PSP/PVR/SAN/SEA/SFO/SJD only), DAL-LAS, and DEN-SFO, changes or cancellations can be made for a $100 fee per guest through all channels, plus any increase in fare, if applicable.
