Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to travel. Additionally, keep in mind that discounted partner fares may not earn miles with US-based carriers.

United has dropped prices for flights from the US to Taiwan for trips this fall. We're seeing fares from just $531 round-trip from October through December 2016. Note that itineraries have a stop in San Francisco (SFO) on each leg of the journey.

The small island nation is known for its cultural obsession with food and vibrant capital city, Taipei. If you are able to get a flight before October 29, you will be flying on United's 787 from SFO to Taipei (TPE). However, on October 30, United will switch service back to an older 747 — a far inferior product, especially if you're sitting in economy.
