Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.
If you’ve been in the market for a stellar deal to the French Polynesian islands, you’re in luck! Ever since United Airlines and French budget long-haul carrier French Bee began flying routes to Tahiti, costs have gone down as carriers have to compete more for business. French Bee is offering tickets from just $658 round-trip and nonstop from SFO, while SkyTeam partners Delta and Air France have some fall fares for a hair cheaper — as low as $656 round-trip with a brief stop at LAX.
Note that if you want to visit Bora Bora, you’ll have to buy a separate ticket through Air Tahiti, which will cost you an additional $500 or so round-trip.
