Deal Alert: $99 One-Way Flights from LAX to Stockholm on SAS
Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here.
Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to travel. Additionally, keep in mind that discounted partner fares may not earn miles with US-based carriers.
Earlier this week, we heard about ridiculously low one-way fares from Los Angeles (LAX) to Stockholm (ARN) on Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). At first, it seemed like it must be a mistake fare — $99 from the West Coast to Europe is an amazing deal, even compared to prices at budget airlines like Norwegian — but it turns out that the low prices are official, a promotional price as the airline prepares to launch its new LAX service in March.
The discounted fare — advertised at $99 — must be booked by March 6, and travel must occur between March 14 and 25. While the outbound flight is super cheap, the return trip will cost more. We found round-trip fares as low as $411, but it could end up being more depending on your actual itinerary — a cheaper alternative might be to fly home on Norwegian, which has one-way return flights priced as low as $155 in late March and early April, or you could book an award ticket for your flight home.
