Check out this new sale on flights to London.

American Airlines and British Airways have both slashed prices on nonstop fares from various U.S. departure cities. Even better, the travel dates in this sale coincide with when the United Kingdom typically experiences its best weather and lightest crowds, in late spring and fall.

This sale is for seats in economy. With these tickets, you'll enjoy a free carry-on bag. However, fees may apply for checking luggage.

We found the best deals in April, May and, for Charlotte travelers, December. If you live in Charlotte, there are some exceptional fares for travel during the Christmas holidays. We're focusing on the nonstop fares in this sale, but in some cases, select routes get even cheaper if you book an outbound flight with a layover.

Sample flights

Let's start with Charlotte, where we found good availability for sale fares in April. These nonstop, round-trip routes on American between Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and London's Heathrow Airport (LHR) are just $627, which is a good price for economy.

GOOGLE FLIGHTS

According to Google Flights, this December itinerary out of Charlotte (also on American) is about half of what you'd normally pay for this flight during the busy holiday season.

GOOGLE FLIGHTS

As for discounted British Airways fares, one of the best months to jet to London if you're departing from Houston is in April. This nonstop flight from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to LHR is only $629, a good price with wide availability.

GOOGLE FLIGHTS

The very best price we found out of Houston on British Airways, though, was this nonstop in October for only $598. Again, that's a solid price for this route in the fall.
