Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.

JetBlue's famous for its flash sales, giving travelers a prime opportunity to book airfare on the cheap. In honor of fall, which is right around the corner (we can't believe it either), the New York-based carrier is offering a "Fall Runway Preview" flash sale, with one-way fares starting at $38. You must book your travel by August 2 at 11:59pm ET for travel between September 6 and November 8, 2017. We're seeing discounted fares for international and domestic travel, including a $166 round-trip transcon fare.

There are a number of cities included in this flash sale, so it'll be best to check out JetBlue's page. The best way to search for availability is to search Google Flights for the routes and dates and then click through to book on JetBlue's website. Also note that for many of the routes, the lowest fares are for Tuesday or Wednesday travel.
