Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.
Flying coast-to-coast in the US can sometimes be more expensive than crossing an ocean, but fortunately JetBlue's making it cheap to visit California if you live in NYC. The airline's currently offering discounted fares from New York (JFK) to San Francisco (SFO) in December from just $109 one-way or $216 round-trip, or just $236 round-trip to Los Angeles (LAX). Further, if you have TrueBlue points to spare, you can redeem 7,000 of them for a one-way ticket, or 14,000 for a round-trip. These fares are only available for a short time in December, so act fast if you want to take advantage of these deals!
