Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.

We rarely see flights to Africa priced this affordably, especially with such wide-open availability over the fall months and the tail end of safari peak season. Some dates include a 12+ hour layover in Amsterdam (AMS), which could be a great way to get a break from travel, stretch your legs for a bit, and see a fun city in between transcontinental flights. Other available dates offer two- to five-hour stops in Paris or Amsterdam for less than $20 more.

Please note that we experienced a glitch when trying to book on Delta via Google Flights. So we suggest using Google Flights to find the dates that work best for you, then plugging those dates directly into the Delta website. KLM's booking system does not seem to be experiencing the same issue.
