Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.
We’re seeing great deals from $490 round-trip in economy on Singapore Airlines, which is running a new sale from the US to Asia. Premium economy, which we’ve written about before, is just a bit more starting at $890 round-trip.
We’re seeing these fares, as was first reported by Frequent Flyer Bonuses, from many US cities served by Singapore, including Los Angeles (LAX), Houston (IAH), Seattle (SEA) and New York (JFK). Destinations include Tokyo (NRT), Frankfurt (FRA), Manchester (MAN) and Kuala Lumpur (KUL). Many fares are nonstop. The lowest fares are in Singapore’s Economy Lite class, which means you won’t be able to cancel your ticket, you’ll only earn 50% KrisFlyer miles and you won’t be able to upgrade your ticket with miles. We don’t suggest you wait to book as these fares expire on August 31!
To search, head to Singapore’s website and enter your origin and destination cities. Scroll through the calendar function to find dates and prices that work for you. Finally, click through to book directly with the airline or an OTA like Orbitz or Expedia.
