One of the perks of premium rewards credit cards like The Platinum Card® from American Express and Chase Sapphire Reserve cards is included membership in the Priority Pass Select lounge network. You need to activate this membership once you get those credit cards, but then you can access over 1,000 lounges around the world including the KLM Crown Lounge and Air France Lounge in Houston, The Club at MCO in Orlando, Mera Business Lounge in Cancun, Club Mobay in Jamaica, Alaska Airlines Board Room Lounge located in several cities, and the Plaza Premium Lounge in London’s Heathrow. Even cooler still you can bring guests, so families can benefit as well as solo travelers. The guest policy varies a bit based on your membership’s origin, but via the Amex Platinum you can have two guests included, and via the Chase Sapphire Reserve there is no stated included guest limit.
We have visited a few lounges in the Priority Pass Select network, and while they aren’t all amazing, we are always glad to have somewhere other than just the gate area to visit in the airport.
There are some limits to this perk though as these lounges aren’t in every airport, they can be crowded, and they are seemingly only getting more crowded. I’ve heard multiple stories of travelers being turned away because the lounges are too full. These are problems that will not have just one solution as more travelers are continuing to learn about more comfortable ways to travel.
Priority Pass Select Gets You Free Airport Restaurant Meals
That said, I am loving this new potential solution to the lounge over-crowding and limited location problems – free meals at airport restaurants via Priority Pass Select! To my knowledge, this practice within the Priority Pass Select collection started earlier this year, but is continuing to expand to more locations!
At a few airports around the world, instead of using your Priority Pass Select card to access a lounge, you can use it for credit at an airport restaurant/bar! The amount of credit varies by location, but it is generally enough to cover an entree. Each of your eligible guests also gets the same credit, so this is great for families!
Read the fine print for your location, but the amount generally can be used towards food and/or drinks, but it does not cover the tip. Here are some examples of places that your Priority Pass Select membership can get you complimentary food and drinks beyond your traditional airline lounge locations.
At the airport in Portland, you can visit the Alaska Lounge with your Priority Pass Select card, or you can skip that and instead head to one of these restaurants/bars and get a $28 per person credit towards food and beverages.

It is the only distiller in the world to have opened an airport tasting room.
Cardholders and accompanying guests will receive US$28 off the final bill per person per visit, valid on any type of drink/tasting, excluding bottle sales and merchandise in a single transaction upon presentation of a valid card.
Capers Market – Concourse D
Capers Market offers market fresh seafood, pastries, beer, wine and spirits.
PGA MSP – Terminal 1
This places looks insanely cool for golf fans and those who just want a complimentary burger and fries. Children 3 and under are free, and otherwise Priority Pass Select members and guests get admission and a $15 credit per person per visit towards a la carte menu or golf experiences, but credit cannot be combined across both.
You can use the putting green, hit balls on the driving range, or just have a meal.

A family of three in Portland getting a total of $78 in credit at one of those restaurants sounds even better in many situations than heading to the Alaska Airlines lounge. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this newer way to put your Priority Pass membership to good use!
