Hertz waives young-driver fees for new graduates — here's how to enroll
Good news, recent graduates: Hertz will now waive your young-driver fee.
If you're between the ages of 21 and 24, most rental car companies charge a fee of $15 to $30 per day when you rent a car. On a weeklong rental, that can add up, even on the best rental car deals.
But now, Hertz is waiving its $19-per-day young-driver fee for recent college graduates between 21 and 24 years old. All recent grads have to do is sign up for Hertz Gold Plus Rewards and prove that they recently graduated from college to waive the fee. Right now, anyone who graduated between 2018 and 2022 is eligible.
Here's how to enroll:
- Register with Hertz Gold Plus Rewards or find your existing member number.
- Submit your graduation details and Hertz Gold Plus Rewards number on this landing page.
- Include CDP code "2232366" in the "Discount/CDP/Club Code" field when booking a rental car.

By following these steps, you'll be quoted the College Graduation Young Renter Program rate, which includes waived young-driver fees.
On a June two-day weekend rental in Phoenix, this rate saved just over $50 compared to the public rate, which is subject to young-driver fees.
According to the terms of this rate, there are some vehicle classes and rental locations that will not be participating in waived young-driver fees. But in our tests, we found that this rate was available at most major U.S. airports for non-specialty vehicles.
When you rent a car, make sure to pay with a credit card that includes a damage waiver. This can help you save even more on rentals, as you'll be reimbursed for any damage incurred to your rental car. This means you can forgo buying a damage waiver from the rental car company or claiming damage on your own car insurance.

Bottom line
Hertz offering waived young-driver fees is good news for renters who recently graduated from college and are between the ages of 21 and 24. After you enroll in Hertz Gold Plus Rewards and submit your graduation details, you'll save big on the young-driver fee, which costs $19 per day when you rent with Hertz.
