6 things to know about this $95 card

by Summer Hull, Senior Director of Content

You may have already seen us talk about the best welcome offer we’ve seen on the Capital One Venture Rewards Card in years: Right now, you can earn 75,000 bonus miles after you spend $4,000 in the first three months from account opening. Plus, you’ll get a $300 Capital One Travel Stays credit.

That’s at least $1,000 in travel from a card with just a $95 annual fee.

Now, that’s a great bonus. But I’ve had and loved this card for years, and this big welcome offer isn’t the only reason I think it’s worth a look.

Here are six lesser-known Venture perks you probably didn’t realize you could get on such a low-fee card.

Built-in tools that help reduce the guesswork when booking flights. With this card, you can use Capital One Travel’s flight price-tracking and prediction feature — if it recommends booking and the price drops within 10 days, you may even qualify for built-in price-drop protection.
Access to event ticket presales. Capital One cardholders can get special access to select events, which may not sound like much, but past opportunities have even included Taylor Swift concert presale access.
Hertz Five Star status. This mid-tier Hertz status can get you a wider selection of vehicles when you rent, the option to add an additional driver for free and more.
Hotel perks. Book eligible Capital One Lifestyle Collection hotels and vacation rentals and receive a $50 experience credit on each eligible stay, plus access to additional perks.
Up to $125 toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck applications. That credit is available every four years — yet another remarkable perk on a $95 card.

Last but absolutely not least …

Use your miles to cover virtually any travel you put on the card. If the charge codes as a travel-related purchase, you can use your Capital One miles at 1 cent apiece to wipe out that charge. This is a rare but beneficial perk that I can’t get enough of because it’s so flexible.

I can’t imagine not having this card in my wallet because sometimes you just want to use miles to cover exactly what you want with a click of a button.

If any of these perks — or even just that increased welcome bonus worth at least $1,000 in travel — make you want to add the Venture Rewards card to your wallet too, the timing is pretty great since this is the best offer we’ve seen on the card in years.
