I have a love-hate relationship with the word “hack.” It’s terribly overused, and oftentimes the word is used as a clever hook to draw people in while the actual tip is inaccurate or not really a secret at all (like booking flights on a Tuesday to save money).
But, there are still tips out there that aren’t as widely circulated as something like the “airport theory” trend (please don’t try that one), so I’m here to share a few of my favorites with you today.
Avoid a wet, sticky midflight mess: Flying (especially in economy) can be pretty uncomfortable. Don’t make it worse with an exploding water bottle, tube of lotion or yogurt tub. Here’s how to avoid it.
Yellow cab to the rescue: Depending on your destination, ride-hailing options may be limited late at night (not to mention the maze of corridors and shuttles you have to navigate to find the pickup area). Consider good old-fashioned yellow cabs, which are often ready and waiting outside the terminal.
Know where to go, even without cell service: It happens to the best of us. You’re in a new destination and navigating the city like a pro … until your phone loses service and your Apple Maps app gives up on you. This trick will keep you connected with walking and driving directions, no matter how remote your destination.
Give yourself more room in the aisle seat: I’ll admit, I didn’t know about this one until I read it on the website that employs me. Please tell me I am not the only one who never knew you could make yourself more comfortable in the aisle seat.
Regardless of your feelings toward the word “hack,” here are some additional tips worth checking out:
