Of course, you’ll still need to be under Chase’s 5/24 rule, have good to excellent credit, low credit utilization, strong payment history and manageable debt-to-income ratios.
But, assuming none of these are a limiting factor for you, you’ll likely be eligible to earn the Sapphire Preferred’s welcome offer if you don’t currently have a Sapphire Preferred account and you haven’t earned a Sapphire Preferred welcome offer before.
Best of all, being an authorized user on someone else’s Sapphire Preferred account does not prevent you from applying for your own card and earning the welcome bonus if you meet the other eligibility requirements.
Chase may display a pop-up message during the application process before performing a hard inquiry on your credit report if you aren’t eligible for a Sapphire welcome bonus. If you see this pop-up, you’ll usually be given a choice to continue without the bonus or withdraw your application.
