Fair warning. You may be on the verge of missing out on hundreds of dollars in hotel credits if you’re not keeping track of them.
Certain hotel credits offered by credit cards are “use it or lose it” by June 30, so if you have anything you’re looking to book in the next couple weeks, check whether you have one of these credits available first.
American Express and Bilt both offer twice-a-year hotel credits that won’t apply if you don’t book correctly. I was able to use two of these valuable credits to save $500 on a stay in Las Vegas last month, and another $200 recently at a Hilton in Honolulu.
Amex hotel credits
With certain Amex cards, you get semiannual statement credits for qualifying stays you book through Amex’s signature hotel collections — which are loaded with incredible properties.
In some cases, the credit might cover most of your stay, depending on the nightly rate (check out these lovely properties for ideas). These stays can also come with elite-like perks, such as room upgrades and late checkout.
Keep this in mind: How you book with Bilt determines when you see your statement credit. On prepaid bookings, the credit is applied when you check out, but if you choose to pay at the hotel, the statement credit will hit after checkout. Also know that up to $100 of the Bilt Cash you earn can roll over to the next year.
Be sure to check out the guides below for more details on how to take advantage of these credits.
