You know, the little things that actually make a big difference in how enjoyable and memorable travel can be. All you need is a little planning and preparation (and an Amazon Prime membership). I just returned from a work trip to Jackson, Wyoming, and here is everything I did to prepare. (You can also check out the video version on Instagram.)
Check the weather forecast: I assumed summer in Jackson was warm during the day and mild at night. Turns out, nighttime temperatures fall to just above freezing even in June. I’m glad I checked so that I remember to pack some sweaters and my winter coat.
Buy teeny-tiny toiletries: Hotel shampoo and conditioner just isn’t it. When I forget to bring my own toiletries, my dry, lifeless hair serves as a constant reminder of my mistake. For this trip, I splurged on this travel-size set from Amika ($30) that includes shampoo, conditioner, heat-protectant spray and a hair mask.
Google which side of the plane to sit on: When I am flying to an island or another picturesque destination, I Google which side of the plane to sit on for the best views. Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) is the only U.S. airport inside a national park, so I knew the views would be memorable. (The internet says to sit on the right side, by the way.)
Make a custom Apple Map: Your girl loves to be organized. Before every trip, I scope out all the coffee shops, boutiques, hiking trails and restaurants I want to visit. Then, I create a guide in Apple Maps to save them all in one place and easily get walking or driving directions no matter where I am. While I am at it, I download an offline map of the area in case I lose cell service.
Bring a do-it-all phone accessory: When I travel solo, I have to be my own photographer. I recently purchased this Moft multi-purpose MagSafe phone tripod ($39.99) so I can always get my good side.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate: Travel dehydration starts as soon as you step on the plane and start breathing in that dry air. Between that and being extra active on vacation, I always pack hydration powder with electrolytes. I like this Liquid I.V. variety pack ($27.99) because it comes with so many flavors.
