It doesn’t take much to keep me happy. Just a lazy river, a pair of colorful sunglasses, an ice-cold drink, maybe a cozy cabana where I can work through my TBR list and enough hotel points to cover the cost of my stay.
If that sounds like your perfect summer day, too, here are a few of my favorite U.S. hotels with water parks where you can chill out.
JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa: This north Phoenix resort boasts a 14,000-square-foot complex called AquaRidge Water Park with waterslides, a lazy river, a splash playground for younger kids and several pools. If all you pictured when you read that was kids running around everywhere, you can pay an additional fee to reserve a daybed or cabana at the adults-only Sky Island pool.
Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa: TPG’s hotel reporter Tanner Saunders just visited this property’s newly renovated water park, and I had to see the pictures to believe there really is a beach in the middle of Texas now. The new Big Spring Lagoon is a 2.2-acre man-made lagoon with a sandy beach and crystal-clear water. You can swim, paddleboard, kayak or sip a prickly pear margarita on the shore. Where do I sign up?
Orlando World Center Marriott: This Marriott property is only a stone’s throw from Disney World (less than 10 minutes, to be exact), and the on-site water park offers plenty of fun for your days off from the parks. If you spring for a pool view room, you can watch the resort’s nightly laser show from your balcony.
Gaylord Opryland Resort: I don’t stop loving lazy rivers and tropical drinks when the temperatures drop, so I had to throw an indoor water park on this list. There are indoor and outdoor sections at Gaylord Opryland Resort’s SoundWaves water park, so you can swim no matter the weather outside. Several other Gaylord locations also offer a mix of indoor and outdoor water parks or pools.
