Lounge passes, status boosts, a slew of great travel credits and a huge welcome bonus. There are a lot of great reasons to sign up for the new Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard®.
Of course, the main reason you might want to jump on this limited-time offer is the huge miles jackpot. You’ll earn a whopping 90,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first four months from account opening.
Still, I’m keeping the Globe for many, many reasons.
Chief among them? The shortcut to elite status!
On my journey to requalify for top-tier American Airlines Executive Platinum status, this card is a no-brainer because of the status boost. All you have to do is take four eligible American Airlines flights to begin unlocking “Flight Streak” Loyalty Points in bursts of 5,000 points at a time.
You can earn three Flight Streaks annually for a total of 15,000 Loyalty Points toward status.
I’ve been thrilled to discover that the card also offers a handful of credits to help offset the modest $350 annual fee, including a $100 inflight credit, so my onboard snacks are essentially free.
There’s another $100 credit for a selection of retail partners. I chose an AAdvantage Hotels credit, which also boosts my Loyalty Points balance anytime I book a hotel stay through the site.
I love that four Admirals Club lounge passes are added to my account each calendar year.
Oh, did I mention, cardholders also receive a $99 (plus taxes and fees) American Airlines companion certificate after your first cardholder year?
Even if you only fly American a few times a year, this card can really pay for itself. And that big signup bonus could even get you a first-class flight on Japan Airlines to Tokyo!
