Well, the big news we’ve been on the edge of our seat for this year is finally here – some 136 World of Hyatt hotels and resorts will be shifting categories (and pricing) next month. There’s a lot to unpack, with a mix of good and bad news for fans of this program. See our coverage below for more.
Meanwhile, summer is always a busy time at airports, but this year you’ll want to be especially prepared if you’re venturing through certain hubs.
The latest rankings show that four of the 10 busiest airports in the world are in the U.S. — and if you’re flying somewhere, there’s a good chance you’ll be heading through one.
For instance, if you’re a Delta flyer, you’d struggle to dodge what is once again the world’s busiest airport — servicing more than 106 million passengers last year.
But it’s this major U.S. hub — ranked sixth-busiest worldwide with nearly 85 million passengers last year — that could become a pressure point, as the Federal Aviation Administration has ordered airlines to cut flights there by about 12% this summer.
To be clear: a busy airport is not necessarily a problem you need to avoid. But delays, crowds and other disruptions can be all too common, so you should go into those trips prepared.
Personally, I carry a card that gives me airport lounge access so I can parlay my delays into free food, cocktails and comfy spaces to catch up on work (or podcasts and mindless scrolling — whichever).
But if you’re looking at a significant delay or cancellation, here’s how to chart your next moves. And if you ever want to find out the real reason your flight was delayed, this app can help.
