✈ Why Everyone Should Keep a Stash of These Points, Upgrading Your Flight With Miles & More From TPG ✈

It's a great moment to build up your stash

by Augusta Stone, Credit cards writer

Here’s a story about travel plans gone wrong, and how my stash of these points saved the day.

Picture this: You wake up in the middle of the night on the last day of your trip, and you read a text that turns your travel day upside down.

From Delta Air Lines: “We’re sorry that your flight is canceled. We have been working to find a good option for you, but unfortunately, we didn’t find a flight on which to automatically rebook you.”

This happened to my mom and me as we tried to return home from a weekend in Chicago. Severe weather had canceled flights. Outside of flying standby, there were no rebooking options for our route.

Thankfully, my points and miles savvy got us close to home on a different flight that same day.

Atmos Rewards points are my favorite for this exact situation, especially since you can use them to book American Airlines flights.

Thanks to the program’s distance-based award chart, it didn’t matter that cash rates had skyrocketed with mounting cancellations out of O’Hare. A route that worked for us from Chicago to Greenville, South Carolina, was set at 9,000 points plus $19 in taxes and fees (in first class, which were the last two seats available) and would’ve cost 4,500 points in economy.

This is just one example of how valuable it can be to have a good amount of Atmos Rewards points on hand. (Believe me, many of my colleagues have similar stories). And if you’re looking to build up your stash, you’re in luck — both of these Atmos Rewards credit cards are sporting their best-ever welcome offers for a limited time!

Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® credit card: Earn 100,000 bonus points and a 25,000-point Global Companion Award after spending $6,500 on purchases in the first 90 days from account opening. Plus, receive a 50% flight discount code for a qualifying future flight after opening your new account.
Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® credit card: Earn 80,000 bonus points and a $99 Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees from $23) after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 120 days from account opening. Plus, receive a 50% flight discount code for a qualifying future flight after opening your new account.

Either one of those bonuses easily sets you up to take some great trips and have a little stash for your next travel emergency. And, again, these are the biggest offers ever from these cards, so don’t miss your chance to snag one!
