With concerning geopolitical headlines appearing almost daily (not to mention rising airline fuel surcharges), it’d be understandable if you wanted to keep your travels a little closer to home for a bit (that is, assuming things get back to normal at airport security checkpoints — here’s how that’s going, by the way).
So, to end the week, I thought it’d be a good opportunity to offer up some domestic travel inspiration:
If we’re talking alluring U.S. destinations, we must mention Hawaii. But where exactly should you go? You may want to start by checking out this iconic, freshly renovated hotel you can book with Marriott Bonvoy points. Or, try this lesser-known Aloha State city you’ll soon be able to reach with Southwest Airlines for the first time.
San Juan, Puerto Rico: You don’t need a passport to visit Puerto Rico, and my TPG colleagues and I had rave reviews for a beachside hotel that’s also in the Marriott portfolio, and a short drive (or walk!) from the city’s top landmarks.
Hyatt oasis in Texas: World of Hyatt fans should definitely make summer plans to visit this sprawling, freshly updated resort that boasts a lazy river and 5-acre water park.
Fly in style: I wouldn’t be TPG’s aviation reporter if I didn’t throw in a “cool plane” alert. Starting in June, domestic travelers can fly in style on a Delta Air Lines jet that has one of the wildest first-class cabins we’ve ever seen.
Flashback: Baseball is nostalgic. And so is looking back at this super-fun story I wrote as a TPG rookie back in 2022, when I booked a hotel with a view of a major league ballpark. Four years later, I think I’m ready to try it again.
