From the long lines to the boarding chaos and travel delays (especially this summer!), there are days when airports and flying can be a real slog.
I have good news for you: There are some really exciting changes on the horizon that should make the whole experience a lot easier — and not just for travelers with enough miles for United Airlines’ swanky new Polaris seats.
The big question now is when the Transportation Security Administration might finally abolish its ban on large containers of liquids in carry-on bags. It sure would be convenient to bring a full-size bottle of shampoo or sunscreen in your rollaboard bag, so I did some digging to find out when the 3-1-1 policy might end.
Meanwhile, the days of being offline and disconnected while you’re on a flight are quickly coming to an end.
Last week, Southwest Airlines joined the wave of airlines shifting to free inflight Wi-Fi for all. Starting next month, there will be only one requirement to surf the internet for free.
Soon, nearly all of the largest U.S. airlines will have free inflight Wi-Fi — and that service is getting faster, too.
Finally, I’m really excited about a huge time-saver that just launched at America’s two largest airports, ending one of the worst parts of international travel.
If you’re on one of the lucky flights, you can now skip the trek to customs (and the dreaded trip back through security) if you’re rushing to catch a connecting flight.
Expect to see this major time-saver at more U.S. airports soon.
