If you’ve seen our emails this week about the Chase Sapphire Reserve® coming out of its recent refresh with its best-ever offer, and the brand-new Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ launching with the biggest-ever offer in the whole Ultimate Rewards program, you’re probably thinking: OK, how can I get in on this?
Well, we’ll tell you! Because Chase has actually made some recent changes to its eligibility requirements that you’ll definitely want to know.
First, here’s a recap of these blockbuster offers:
Sapphire Reserve for Business: For a limited time, new cardholders can get a staggering 200,000 bonus points after spending $30,000 in the first six months of card membership.
If you’re applying for the Sapphire Reserve, you may not be eligible for the bonus if:
You have received a bonus on the Sapphire Reserve in the past.
You currently hold either the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the Sapphire Reserve.
You may be eligible if:
You’ve never received a bonus on any Sapphire card.
You’ve received a bonus on the Sapphire Preferred, but you no longer have an open Sapphire Preferred account. Pro tip: If you currently hold a Sapphire Preferred, downgrading it to a different card could change your eligibility status.
You can, however, earn the 200,000-point bonus on the Sapphire Reserve for Business, regardless of any consumer Sapphire bonus you’ve earned in the past! This is especially amazing news for anyone who isn’t eligible for the current Sapphire Reserve bonus.
More good news: Chase has added a pop-up tool to its Sapphire application pages that is supposed to tell you whether you’ll be eligible for a bonus before you submit your application.
Keep in mind: New policies like this can leave everyone (even credit card experts like yours truly) scratching their heads a bit until we see how they play out for people applying for the card.
