Many elevated credit card welcome offers come in the form of a set number of points, like 60,000. But every so often, you come across limited-time offers that provide a specific number of hotel award night certificates (with each night worth up to a certain number of points) which can provide even more value.
I got the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless during a previous five-night offer, and used those points to book a last-minute trip to Paris, where cash rates were out of this world but my 35,000-point certificates (which can be topped up to 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points) scored me a comfortable stay on New Year’s Eve. And every year I earn another 35,000-point certificate, which easily offsets the $95 annual fee on the card.
But what I love most about this card is that I earn significantly more points, sometimes up to 17 points per dollar, when paying for stays or expenses at Marriott Bonvoy properties.
For IHG loyalists, the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card comes with a great welcome offer of five free nights (up to 60,000 points per night), which you can redeem at brands such as Kimpton, InterContinental and more.
With this card, you also get a yearly certificate worth up to 40,000 IHG One Rewards points, automatic elite status and the opportunity to get a fourth night free when you book a trip with points — and that can mean huge savings. Plus, you earn 26 points per dollar spent when paying at IHG hotels.
