These are the easily forgotten benefits

by Emily Thompson, Partnerships and Newsletter Editor

If you’ve been in the credit card world for long enough, you’ve seen the many credits and benefits that are generally reserved for cards with premium annual fees.

But don’t sleep on mid-tier cards. While they usually come with fewer perks than their premium counterparts, many mid-tier cards come with benefits that can come close to justifying their already reasonable annual fee.

Here are a few of our favorite mid-tier card perks you don’t want to miss:

$50 hotel credit on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card: If you’ve just gotten the Sapphire Preferred, the amazing welcome bonus may be all you can think about for now. But on top of the chance to earn that bonus, you can receive an annual $50 credit when you book a hotel through Chase Travel℠ — justifying over half of the card’s $95 annual fee. This is a great one to use for those single-night stays you need to book on your way to another destination or for a short visit to see friends and family.
Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit on the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card: The Venture Rewards gets so much love for earning at least 2 miles per dollar spent on all purchases that it’s easy to forget about its valuable Global Entry or TSA PreCheck statement credit. Every four years, you can pay the fee for either membership and receive a statement credit of up to $120 — well worth the card’s $95 annual fee.
Streaming credit on the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express: The Blue Cash Preferred is one of our favorite cash-back cards, thanks to its excellent earning rate on groceries. And if you already have it, don’t forget that you can receive up to $84 each year in credits if you use your card for a Disney subscription* (of at least $9.99 per month) — only $11 short of fully covering the card’s annual fee, which is an introductory $0 for the first year then $95 annually thereafter (see rates and fees).
