✈ 3 Reasons Why This Is the Best Beginner Card, Pay Your Student Loans With Points & More From TPG ✈

Best offer on this No. 1 travel card

by Summer Hull, Senior director of content

Points and miles have literally changed my life over the past couple of decades — and I want them to change yours too, if they haven’t already.

In that time, the question I’ve been asked the most is, “What rewards card should I get?” The majority of the time, the best answer for those newer to all of this is the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.

That’s why I’ve written a whole story on why the Chase Sapphire Preferred should be your first rewards card.

But if you don’t want to read the entire article, here are three of the reasons why this really is the card to get (and the time to get it):

Reason No. 1: Points and miles are a lot more fun when you get a huge batch of them to spend up front thanks to a huge welcome offer (and the Sapphire Preferred has the largest bonus it’s had in four years).

For a limited time, get a huge 100,000-point welcome bonus after you spend $5,000 in the first three months of card membership — that’s a staggering 40,000 points higher than the regular offer!

Reason No. 2: You are going to win big with these points.

You do not need a Ph.D. in points math to get a huge return on your Chase points. You can use them on the Chase Travel℠ site at a flat 1.25 cents each to book flights or hotels (that’s $1,250 in travel) — or use them with programs you are likely already familiar with, like United MileagePlus and World of Hyatt, to potentially stretch their value even more.

Reason No. 3: It’s a low-annual-fee-and-big-perks situation.

So many top rewards cards have annual fees that are hundreds of dollars, but the Sapphire Preferred bucks that trend by costing just $95 per year, making it a great card to start with.

For that $95, not only will you unlock the ability to earn a lot of valuable points and use them with top-tier transfer partners, but you also will get travel perks and benefits like built-in travel protections when you book flights with the card, a $50 hotel credit each year and a whole lot more.

Everyone is different, and I do not want you to get this card if it is not the one for you — but I also do not want you to miss out on this bonus if it is the best card for you. The 100,000-point offer truly is that good and that rare, so start with this card and you’ll probably never look back.
