This tool has changed how I use my points and miles
by Ben Smithson, Senior writer
If you’ve struggled to find reasonably priced award seats to redeem your points and miles (especially with transferable credit card points), I have a secret weapon you need to know about.
Seats.aero is a third-party tool that can search 19 popular loyalty programs at once to find available seats at the lowest price in each program. The programs supported include American Airlines AAdvantage, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, Delta Air Lines SkyMiles, JetBlue TrueBlue and United Airlines MileagePlus.
While other tools allow you to search multiple programs on a specific route and date, Seats.aero is much more powerful. In seconds, you can see the redemption price on every flight, every class and every route across an entire year with a paid Pro account (free accounts can see availability for the next 60 days).
If you have credit card points and want to fly to, say, Paris on a specific date in business class for 70,000 points or less but are less focused on the carrier and program, Seats.aero will show you all of the live availability along with prices in each of the 19 programs. Then you can decide which program is best for you and where to transfer your points. You can even filter to show, for example, just the American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner options if that’s the currency you want to use.
If you don’t find what you are looking for and are flexible with dates, you can set alerts to be notified by email and/or text message if a seat does become available.
Seats.aero also comes packed with handy tools like:
Showing you every first-class award seat currently bookable on Lufthansa, All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines
Showing you which routes have the Qatar Airways Qsuite business-class product, the redemption prices, dates and best transfer partner options
I’ve found this tool to be incredibly valuable. It helps me find the best seats at the lowest redemption rates and saves me hours searching through airline loyalty websites, which can sometimes be buggy. Plus, the awesome alert functions will notify me if my desired redemption becomes available.
It’s now my go-to resource to find award availability everyday.
