This is obviously great news for those who are Team Checked Bag. But if you’re like me and Team Carry-On, don’t skip the Apple AirTag. I spent far too long ignoring my co-workers’ insistence that I add an AirTag to my luggage, only to realize they were right a couple of years ago when I had to gate-check my bag for an international flight. Since then, you won’t catch me without an AirTag in each of my bags (and on my key ring, but that’s a story for another day).
If you haven’t gotten on board yet, trust us when we say that adding an AirTag to your luggage is the easiest way to ensure that you know where your bags are. The AirTag’s regular price is relatively inexpensive, but keep an eye out for sales that let you stock up for a great deal (a four-pack was at its lowest price again last week).
On top of putting an AirTag in your bags, we always recommend going a step further and booking your trip with a card that has lost luggage and baggage delay insurance. Lost or delayed luggage is always a pain, but getting reimbursed for purchases you have to make while waiting to be reunited with your bag makes the process a little less painful.
May the checked luggage odds be ever in your favor — but may you always have an AirTag in your bags, just in case.
