It’s still technically January, and there’s no question it’s been a painful start to the year for many of us across the U.S. and beyond — from the fires in California to extreme winter weather to the largest tragedy in U.S. aviation since 2001, which we continue to follow very closely.
We want to recognize the heaviness of some of the events of the last month while still being a source of inspiration for brighter times we hope are just ahead.
To that end, today’s newsletter is a little different than normal. There’s no one topic that feels right for everyone today. Please enjoy whatever will bring the most light into your life as we all prepare to turn the page to a new month.

If you want some ideas to get away now, we got you.
I’ve taken immense joy in recent weeks leaning in to tools that make it easier to find exciting award flights. Even when I’m not yet ready to book a trip, it puts a smile on my face to think of the possibilities with my points.
One of the best times of the year for a status match
