Just because you’re flying in the clouds on your airline of choice doesn’t mean you have to skimp out in the snack department. Whether you’re a Biscoff aficionado like editor Daisy Hernandez (OK, fine … like all of us at TPG) or a fan of Japan Airlines’ rice crackers like writer Katie Genter, there’s no shortage of stellar snacks in the sky.
So what are our favorites? Last year we went all-in on a TPG airline “snackdown,” a taste test to find the best complimentary nibbles from takeoff to landing.
Since airlines rotate snacks from time to time, we checked in with TPG staff members (who log hundreds of thousands of miles in the sky) to find out what the current favorites are.
If you’re on United Airlines, be sure to check out the dark chocolate and sea salt chocolate crisps from Undercover Snacks. We also love the savory snack mix from Summer Harvest. Delta Air Lines has us hook, line and sinker with its iconic Biscoff cookies, but we also love the harvest cheddar-flavored Sunchips.
American Airlines also has us wowed with Biscoff cookies, while Southwest Airlines has stepped up its snack game with offerings like Nabisco Wheat Thins and Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle. (TPG’s Rachel Craft also says don’t miss out on Southwest’s Maui Monk pretzels.)
Over at JetBlue Airways, we’re still mourning the loss of the airline’s once-iconic blue Terra Chips, but today you’ll find things like Cheez-It crackers and Ocean Spray Craisins.
Of course, for those looking for heartier fare, don’t miss out on new offerings in premium cabins, like Shake Shack burgers served in Delta’s domestic first class and Magnolia Bakery’s iconic banana pudding in the front of United planes.
