But these experiences didn’t even make my top three. So, here’s a look at those:
My stay at Miraval Austin (pictured above) in April was a breath of fresh air. From a forced digital detox to sessions to improve yourself, a stay at Miraval is unlike any other stay you can book through a major hotel loyalty program. I redeemed Hyatt points for my stay, and you can, too.
Lufthansa’s first class is notoriously difficult to book, as the airline only releases last-minute award availability to partners. My husband and I positioned ourselves near Frankfurt in October and obsessively checked award availability for days until we found a flight from Frankfurt to Mexico City for 96,000 Avianca LifeMiles and $195 per person. From the First Class Terminal to the flight, the service was spectacular.
Finally, there’s Calala Island. This six-villa private island off the coast of Nicaragua was an exceptional experience that nothing I’d read truly prepared me for. I redeemed Hyatt points before Small Luxury Hotels of the World left Hyatt for a stay in November. But now you can redeem 150,000 Hilton points per night. Award availability is limited, so you’ll need to be flexible with your dates.
If these experiences inspire you, here are some stories to help you plan some spectacular trips for 2025:
