Hello, TPG readers! First, happy Halloween! Second, you know what’s really scaring me this All Hallows’ Eve? That there are only two months left in the year, and I’m still mapping out how to clinch all of my preferred hotel elite status tiers. Wouldn’t it be great if we didn’t have to worry about this fourth-quarter loyalty rat race every year?
Believe it or not, there is a way to maintain hotel elite status and not have to worry about requalifying each year.
Major programs like Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors and World of Hyatt offer lifetime elite status to those who play the long game and show just how loyal they are over the course of years. That said, all lifetime hotel elite status offers — much like the loyalty programs themselves — aren’t created equal.
Marriott Bonvoy offers Lifetime Silver Elite, Lifetime Gold Elite and Lifetime Platinum Elite status. Achieving Lifetime Silver Elite requires staying 250 nights and holding Silver Elite status for at least five years. You’ll need a whopping 600 nights and at least a decade of Platinum status to achieve Lifetime Platinum Elite status.
Fear not: Marriott counts elite night credits earned through your credit card and other promotions toward lifetime status — so if you have the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card, you can already count on 30 elite night credits coming your way each year before you even set foot in a hotel.
Hilton Honors and World of Hyatt also offer lifetime status, but, unlike Marriott Bonvoy, these programs only offer the benefit at their top elite tiers: Hilton Diamond and Hyatt Globalist, respectively. That means hitting lifetime status in these programs can be more arduous and time consuming than with Marriott, so you’ll want to do the math and calendar planning to formulate a strategy that works for your travel habits.

That’s all from me for today. Keep up with me on Instagram and X, and have a great Halloween!
