I decided to aim for earning the welcome bonus because one of the under-the-radar perks of certain Chase cards is that if you hold a higher-end card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you can combine your points into one Ultimate Rewards account.
The card has ended up being a great addition to my wallet because it has a $0 annual fee, plus I earn 5% back on the first $25,000 spent at office supply stores and on internet, cable and phone services, and 2% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at gas stations and restaurants.
I recently redeemed my new points by transferring to Air France-KLM’s loyalty program Flying Blue to take advantage of the 25% Chase transfer bonus and booked business-class seats on KLM for a summer trip — one-way from the East Coast to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) for 50,000 points plus $206 in taxes.
