Flight delay? No problem

by Tarah Chieffi, Senior writer

Unfortunately, travel hiccups are a part of life. This summer alone, my family endured airplane mechanical issues that led to us sitting on the tarmac for more than an hour before we finally took off, flight delays that left us running through the airport to make our connection and a late-night cancellation that meant standing in a line with hundreds of other passengers waiting for a hotel voucher.

Sometimes, delays, cancellations and even lost baggage (which luckily hasn’t hit our bingo card this year) can’t be avoided. What you can avoid, however, is paying out of pocket to book new flights or replace your lost items — all thanks to credit cards that offer travel protections like travel insurance, trip delay reimbursement and baggage delay protection.

As we prepare for another busy holiday travel month, beyond just having these cards in your wallet, you need to pay close attention to which card you use to book your flights and the eligibility requirements to take full advantage of the travel protection benefits they offer.

These credit cards that offer trip protection benefits can save your sanity — and valuable dollars — when travel trouble hits:

Wishing you safe and uninterrupted travels!
