An important aspect to consider when picking the next card for your wallet is the welcome offer.
The value of the welcome offer is more important than the sheer number of points or miles you can earn after meeting specified minimum spending requirements within a set period. But, it sure does feel good to earn a big welcome offer. And several cards are currently offering new cardmembers bonuses of 150,000 points or more.
The Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card offers 170,000 bonus Hilton points after you spend $3,000 on purchases on the card within your first six months of card membership (offer ends Jan. 17, 2024). Based on our valuations, 170,000 Hilton points are worth $1,020. The higher-annual-fee Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card offers a slightly more valuable 180,000-point welcome offer but requires spending significantly more: $6,000 within the first six months of card membership.
The information for the Hilton Honors Aspire Card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
Some welcome offers consist of free night certificates instead of points. While I prefer points as a welcome offer, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card and Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card both currently offer new cardmembers three free night awards (each valued at up to 50,000 points). You need to spend more on the business card ($6,000 on eligible purchases in the first six months of card membership versus $3,000 in the first three months on the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card) to earn the free nights, but either of these bonuses could fuel a three-night getaway.
Finally, the Capital One Venture X Business card is offering a sign-up bonus of 150,000 bonus miles after you spend $30,000 in the first three months. Based on our valuations, these bonus miles are worth $2,775 when you redeem with Capital One’s airline and hotel transfer partners.
