Trusted Traveler Expedited Security Expands to 28 More Airports in 2012
Apparently the TSA's trial Pre Check expedited security program went well enough at the seven test airports—Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami and Minneapolis—that the TSA announced it will roll out the program to an additional 28 airports throughout 2012.
Though it doesn't give details on which airlines will be participating at each, United, US Airways and Alaska will be among them, and the 28 new airports will be:
-Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
-Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
-Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT)
-Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG)
-Denver International Airport (DEN)
-Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
-George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
-Honolulu International Airport (HNL)
-Indianapolis International Airport (IND)
-John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
-LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
-Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (STL)
-Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
-Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU)
-Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
-O'Hare International Airport (ORD)
-Orlando International Airport (MCO)
-Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
-Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
-Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
-Portland International Airport (PDX)
-Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
-Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)
-San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
-Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
-Tampa International Airport (TPA)
-Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC)
-Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Pre Check is part of the Trusted Traveler program, and certain members who are U.S. citizens and enrolled in Global Entry, SENTRI and NEXUS will be eligible to participate.
Whenever I fly out of Miami on American Airlines I usually get to use the expedited lane and it's really nice. Some of the perks include being able to keep your shoes on, leaving laptops and carry-on toiletries inside your bag, keeping your jacket or outerwear on, and leaving your belt on—so no stripping then dressing again as you make your way through security.
You can read about the details and how to qualify in my previous post.
