Singapore Airlines’ Global Redemption sale is back, letting members book award flights for 25% fewer KrisFlyer miles. While transatlantic North American routes are limited to just premium economy flights at select airports, if you're already looking to book your next 2025 vacation — or find yourself in Asia, Africa, the Southwest Pacific area or Europe and want to add an extra leg to your trip — this deal could pique your interest.

Plus, you don’t have to earn Singapore KrisFlyer miles to take advantage of this sale; you can transfer them from several popular credit card rewards currencies.

Here are all the details.

Deal basics: Singapore KrisFlyer Global Redemption sale

As mentioned, if you want to fly from the U.S. to Singapore, there are only premium economy seats available with this promotion. Per the deal, you can fly from Singapore to San Francisco (or vice versa) for 56,250 KrisFlyer miles. Note that there are blackout dates for these routes. You can also snag premium economy tickets from Singapore to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) for 60,375 miles or from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Singapore for 60,375 miles. These routes do not have any blackout dates.

To note, the number of KrisFlyer miles required is one-way per person, and availability is based on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to traveling from North America, you can check out Singapore KrisFlyer's promotional details page to get the full list of available routes. These include 25% off select Saver award tickets in economy and business class on flights from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Southwest Pacific area.

A few important details to note:

  • Book by Sept. 22, 2024, and travel between Jan. 15 and May 29, 2025. (Some routes have blackout dates.)
  • Sale applies to all Singapore Airlines destinations in economy and select destinations in premium economy and business class.
  • You must redeem via Singapore Airlines’ website or app. No promo code or registration is needed; the sale price will automatically appear when you search for applicable flights.

You’ll need to act fast to use this deal. The booking window ends Sept. 22, but the travel window gives you several months to fly in early 2025.

Is it worth it?

Singapore Airlines premium economy. BEN SMITHSON/THE POINTS GUY

Since there are not many options from North American airports, this deal may not be particularly beneficial to you. Plus, if you want to travel to Singapore, you can find business-class availability through Star Alliance partner Air Canada Aeroplan and book your flight for as low as 60,000 Aeroplan points each way, which is cheaper than booking a premium economy ticket from EWR to Singapore.

Plus, Singapore Airlines offers regular award redemption deals called Spontaneous Escapes, but these typically provide a shorter travel window in the near future (hence the “spontaneous” part). For instance, in August you could get 30% off Saver award tickets, but you had to fly in the month of September.

If your itinerary is flexible, this could provide you with a better deal, as you could've opted to fly Singapore Airlines business class between New York and Frankfurt for just 56,700 miles, or 36,400 miles in premium economy (per Singapore's August 2024 deal).

However, the current Global Redemption sale gives travelers a little more flexibility. But, unlike Spontaneous Escapes, this sale doesn’t come around every month or so. We haven’t seen a similar offer in roughly a year from KrisFlyer.

Even if you aren’t sitting on a stash of KrisFlyer miles, you can still take advantage of this sale, especially if you want to book short-haul economy intra-Asia flights. KrisFlyer is a transfer partner of four major transferable points currencies: Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi ThankYou Rewards. You can transfer any of these rewards to KrisFlyer miles at a 1:1 ratio.

If you’re considering a trip to Asia this winter or spring, this sale could be a great way to use your credit card rewards.

Bottom line

Singapore KrisFlyer's Global Redemption sale is an uncommon offer that lets you save 25% on KrisFlyer miles redemptions. The broad travel window provides more flexibility than most of KrisFlyer’s promotions, but you only have until Sept. 22 to book, so start thinking about whether this deal is for you.
