You can now redeem Alaska miles for Ravn Alaska flights
Ravn Alaska is one of Alaska's main regional airlines, connecting smaller cities in The Last Frontier with turboprop aircraft.
The airline has long had a partnership with Alaska Airlines for mileage earning. And now, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members can redeem miles for flights on Ravn flights, making it cheaper and easier to travel around the state.
Mileage Plan members can redeem miles on any route that Ravn Alaska operates, provided award space is available, with one exception. You cannot redeem miles for Ravn flights between Anchorage and Fairbanks, presumably because Alaska also operates this route.
Let's take close a look at Ravn awards and how much these award tickets cost.
Redeeming Alaska miles on Ravn Alaska flights
Like most of Alaska's other partners, Ravn award tickets can be booked online. Just search for the route you'd like to book and select an available flight.
According to Alaska's award chart, Ravn awards are priced dynamically, with flights starting at 7,500 miles one-way. We've found that awards hover between 7,500 and 10,000 miles one-way on shorter routes, with longer flights costing up to 40,000 miles one-way.

For example, this flight from Valdez Airport (VDZ) to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) — one of Ravn's shortest routes — has many flights available at the 7,500-mile price point. However, prices rise to 10,000 miles one-way on some dates.

On the other hand, flights from St. Paul Island Airport (SNP) to Anchorage cost as much as 40,000 miles one-way on many dates. This is one of Ravn's longer routes that have relatively limited service.

The value you'll get from these redemptions depends on the cash cost, which can get expensive on Ravn's more niche routes. For example, that flight from St. Paul Island to Anchorage costs $540 on the same date, giving you 1.31 cents per point in value. This is below TPG's 1.7 cents per point valuation of Alaska miles, but can make sense if you need to get from point A to B without breaking the bank.

As always, do the math and see if it makes sense to pay cash or redeem Alaska miles for your next Ravn Alaska flight. And if you're a frequent Ravn flyer, make sure to consider earning with the airline's own loyalty program — FlyCoin — that offers a cryptocurrency rebate when you fly with the regional carrier.

Bottom line
Redeeming Alaska miles on Ravn Alaska flights can be useful for those based in Alaska or those planning a multi-city tour of the state. As discussed, flights on these routes can get expensive due to limited frequency, so having the option to pay with miles (even at a lackluster value) can help in some situations.
