The former Shangri-La Vancouver has moved to World of Hyatt and is currently operating as the Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni. However, a Hyatt press release states that once a "multi-million-dollar redesign enhances and elevates the hotel's guestrooms, residential-style lobby, public spaces and spa," the property will become the Park Hyatt Vancouver sometime in 2026.

The 119-room property at 1128 W. Georgia St. in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, is currently bookable through World of Hyatt as a Category 7 property. According to the World of Hyatt award chart, award nights at the Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni should cost 25,000 to 35,000 points per night in standard rooms, 43,000 to 53,000 points per night in standard suites and 50,000 to 70,000 points per night in premium suites. However, as of publication, no award nights are available.

You can book paid rates at the Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni through World of Hyatt, starting around $478 per night. Here's an overview of the six types of rooms the property is currently selling:

  • One king bed city view (400 to 450 square feet)
  • Two double beds city view (400 to 450 square feet)
  • One king bed deluxe (505 to 625 square feet)
  • Two double beds deluxe (505 to 625 square feet)

  • One-bedroom city view suite (550 to 565 square feet)
  • One-bedroom city view suite with sofa bed (550 to 565 square feet)

As this property will be undergoing renovations until it reopens as a Park Hyatt, be sure to read any notes on the property homepage or throughout the booking process to determine if renovations are likely to disrupt your stay. You might even want to call the property to see what types of renovations will be ongoing as your stay draws near and request a room far away from the noise, if possible.

As the property is already a Category 7 pre-renovation, I can only assume it will become Category 8 once it rebrands as a Park Hyatt. So, you may want to book now (or once award bookings open) for a stay in early to mid-2026 in hopes that you get a renovated room type — or that the property rebrands before your stay dates arrive.
