How Embassy Suites is making condo-style accommodations convenient for Disney vacations
Editor's Note
Most hotel rooms at theme parks like Walt Disney World are designed to sleep four (or sometimes five) guests. If your group is larger than that, a standard room simply won't cut it. And unless you splurge for a family suite or know our secret for getting spacious Disney Vacation Club villas for half price, you won't have the comforts of home like a kitchen, living room or multiple bathrooms.
Staying in a Disney World hotel certainly has its benefits (you can't beat those fireworks views). However, if you prefer hotels with the homey amenities mentioned above — that also participate in major loyalty programs where you can earn or redeem points and enjoy elite status perks — there is a new property just down the road from Disney that could be your "happily ever after," accommodations-wise.

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando Sunset Walk is about a 15-minute drive from Disney World in a quiet development off of US-192. This brightly painted property has all of the amenities Embassy Suites is known for, like complimentary made-to-order breakfast, an evening cocktail reception with drinks and snacks, a fitness center and a pool.
The resort is a partnership between Kissimmee, Florida-based management company Rentyl Resorts and Atlanta-based Davidson Hospitality Group. Investors can own one of the hotel's suites and rent it out when they're not using it, so travelers like myself can book a stay directly through Hilton.

All Embassy Suites locations promise spacious accommodations, but the Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando Sunset Walk takes that promise one step further: It offers multi-room condo suites rather than the traditional two-room suites for which the brand is known. This is a new step for the brand, and currently the only Embassy Suites property of its kind.
Condo sizes range from studios to two-bedroom suites. Studios have a kitchenette with a microwave, sink and minifridge; larger units have full kitchens with a refrigerator, microwave, oven, stove and dishwasher.
My family stayed in a two-bedroom suite that sleeps up to eight guests. The primary bedroom had a king bed, and the kids' room had two queen beds. Both had ensuite bathrooms. Our suite also had a full kitchen with a coffee maker, refrigerator, stove, oven and dishwasher. It was fully stocked with cooking supplies and dinnerware, and the dining area had a breakfast bar and dining table.
The living room had several seating options, including a queen-size sofa bed. Both bedrooms had a door with access to the furnished balcony.

Despite having the in-room amenities you'd expect to find in a vacation home, we also had the perks of staying in a traditional hotel, including:
- On-site restaurant
- In-room dining
- Outdoor heated pool with a splash pad and poolside bar and grill
- Fitness center
- Free shuttle to Disney, SeaWorld and Universal
- Free breakfast
- Complimentary evening cocktail reception

In addition to its convenient location near Disney, the hotel is also just down the road from the Promenade at Sunset Walk entertainment district. Here, you'll find several shopping and dining options, as well as live entertainment. We took the complimentary hotel shuttle to Sunset Walk for our dinner at The Wharf. In addition to the live band playing at dinner, there was a custom car show taking place at the outdoor promenade.

Now for the best part: You can get the comforts of a vacation home alongside the perks of a full-service hotel, all while earning or redeeming Hilton Honors points.
Rates for a studio suite start at $209 for Hilton Honors members and $219 for nonmembers. (Discounted rates are available for nonrefundable and limited cancellation reservations.) If you want to redeem points for your stay, pricing starts at 58,000 points per night for a Standard Room Reward.

If you are looking at a larger two-bedroom unit, refundable rates start at $293 or 104,000 Hilton Honors points per night, as this qualifies as a Premium Room Reward. These rates include the $40 nightly resort charge.

If you have Silver, Gold or Diamond Hilton elite status, you'll receive additional perks. Such perks include bonus points earnings on your stay, two complimentary bottles of water, room upgrades, your fifth night free on award stays and more.
Before you book your stay, take a look at some of the best credit cards for Hilton stays. The welcome offers on these cards include bonus points and, in some cases, free night rewards that you can apply toward your stay. They also come with automatic Hilton elite status, so you can enjoy the benefits mentioned above.
- Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card: This card earns 12 Hilton Honors points per dollar when you book directly with Hilton and comes with automatic Hilton Honors Gold status. You'll also get up to $50 each quarter in statement credits when you use the card for eligible Hilton purchases. Annual fee: $150 (see rates and fees).
- The Platinum Card® from American Express: This card doesn't earn bonus points on Hilton purchases, but it does come with several benefits that can make your travels easier and less expensive. In addition to Hilton Honors Gold status, you'll get Marriott Bonvoy Gold status, access to airport lounges in the American Express Global Lounge Collection and statement credits for things like Global Entry ($120 every four years), Clear+ (up to $209 annually, subject to auto-renewal) and select streaming services (up to $300 annually). Some benefits require enrollment. Annual fee: $895 (see rates and fees).
- Hilton Honors American Express Card: This no-annual-fee card (see rates and fees) earns 7 Hilton Honors points per dollar when you book with Hilton and comes with automatic Hilton Honors Silver status.
In the past, I've felt like I had to choose between renting a vacation home for my family of five, squishing into a traditional hotel room or paying big bucks for connecting rooms or a large suite. Hotels like the Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando Sunset Walk solve that problem with spacious accommodations, hotel amenities and the ability to earn or redeem hotel loyalty points.
