February may be the shortest month, but this one was certainly jam-packed with hotel news.

On the less-than-exciting side, Hyatt rolled out its annual hotel category changes. Hyatt, thankfully, still uses an award chart to price nights booked with points, but every year, a number of hotels move up or down in category. This year, 118 hotels moved up in category while only 33 shifted down.

In a similar vein, a recent TPG analysis also found that Marriott Bonvoy points have decreased in value. But the program still has plenty of incredible places to snag a great redemption. You just might have to be more flexible or more crafty to get the best bang for your buck.

February also saw the launch of TPG's list of the most exciting hotels opening in 2025. This list, curated by our expert team of travelers, includes family-friendly brands offering free breakfast, the very first W-branded all-inclusive resort and hotels as far away as Australia and as close to home as Indianapolis.

Between all of that, here's some more hotel news you might have missed in the last 28 days.

Four Seasons wants you to visit all the hotels from 'The White Lotus' — on a private jet

FOUR SEASONS

Four Seasons has been a major part of "The White Lotus" since the series began. The luxe Canadian hotel brand has also been wowing travelers with its Four Seasons private jet itineraries that have people flying between luxury hotels in far-flung destinations throughout the year. (Think of it like a season of the show but all the guests fly together between resorts around the world.)

Now, Four Seasons is inviting fans of the HBO Max hit show to join a 20-day itinerary that will include flights between, and stays at, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui in Thailand; San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel in Sicily; and Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in Hawaii. Called the World of Wellness 2026, the trip will start in Singapore and also include stays in the Maldives; Marrakech, Morocco; Nevis in the Caribbean; and Mexico City, alongside wellness experiences, sipping handcrafted cocktails in the sky and, unlike the show, a lot less drama.

If you're really curious about what it's like staying at the hotels featured on "The White Lotus," TPG already went to visit those three Four Seasons locations and put together a fun video showing off the hotels.

A 'Wicked' takeover in Japan

SEIBU PRINCE HOTELS & RESORTS

If you find yourself defying gravity and flying over to Japan, popular Japanese hotel brand Seibu Prince Hotels & Resorts is already gearing up for the final installment of the two-part movie adaptation of "Wicked." From March 1, various Seibu Prince properties will offer spellbindingly gorgeous food, drink and stay experiences, like a "Wicked"-themed afternoon tea, Glinda- and Elphaba-inspired cocktails and, at The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, a Luxury Collection Hotel, you can even book a room decked out in head-to-toe green, pink and Oz-worthy glam, all with Marriott Bonvoy points.

Houston hotels get ready to rodeo

COOMER/HOUSTON CHRONICLE/GETTY IMAGES

Whether you're interested in cowboys riding bulls, snacking on food like a bacon bourbon caramel cheesecake on a stick or just down to catch concerts ranging from Reba to Post Malone, the Houston Rodeo, taking place March 4 to 23, has it all. It's a wild time — and trust me, I grew up going. It's something you have to see to believe.

HYATT

This year, the still-new Thompson Houston, where I'm making my own home base when I head to Houston later this month, is launching a series of rodeo-centric activities, including a Thursday-night Country Concert Series ($70; includes a cocktail, light bites and pool access), a special Wrangler's Whiskey cocktail at Sol 7 and a boot pop-up from Miron Crosby from March 6 through 8 between noon and 6 p.m. You can also stop into the Thompson Spa for a new Pietro Simone facial or join weekly group wellness classes, like yoga, to help balance out all the fried goodies.

Another hotel offering a Houston rodeo package is the Hotel Granduca. The hotel's Sole of Texas Rodeo Package, which starts from $2,500, includes a three-bedroom suite, breakfast, rodeo-inspired bites and premium seating for the rodeo and concert performance of the guest's choice.

Lodge Kohler gears up for April's NFL draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin

LODGE KOHLER

Kohler may be best known for kitchen faucets and toilets, but the company also has some awesome hotels under its belt. And Lodge Kohler, right by the entrance to legendary Lambeau Field in Green Bay, is inviting football fans to come celebrate the NFL draft from April 24 to 26.

In the south parking lot, snack on Wisconsin brats, macaroni and cheese, and Kohler's original recipe chocolates, then grab a beer and a seat and enjoy the draft festivities. For something more personal, the hotel will also offer an all-inclusive VIP experience that includes a private area at Taverne in the Sky to catch the live broadcasts and customizable food-and-drink menus.

Check out all of Lodge Kohler's NFL events and offers online.

There's still time to catch country music at The St. Regis Aspen Resort

DANIEL RAHAL

Desert 5 Spot, of New York and Los Angeles fame, alongside The Snow Lodge at The St. Regis Aspen Resort, a pop-up from the folks behind Montauk, New York's Surf Lodge, have launched a winter music series that still have three Sunday-night shows left to enjoy. The concert series will see the usually caviar- and Champagne-filled Jade room turned into a honkey-tonklike environment with live music from Joy Oladokun on March 2, Lily Meola on March 9 and Drake Milligan on March 16.

Other activities happening in conjunction with The Snow Lodge include dinners with live music and an outdoor apres-ski music series.

A new Kimpton just opened in Marbella, Spain

KIMPTON

In the 1960s, Los Monteros set the standard for Spanish hospitality. Today, the storied hotel has been revived and brought back to life as the Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella, a 195-room IHG hotel just feet from the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel features a Mediterranean-inspired pool bar, a rooftop bar with lots of activities, a Mediterranean-style restaurant, a Maison Codage spa and even a Dolce & Gabbana beach club.

Rates start around $355 or 62,000 IHG One Rewards points per night.

Last chance to catch Virgin Hotels New York City's 'Back 2 the Video Store!' experience

VIRGIN HOTELS NEW YORK CITY

Virgin Hotels New York, a popular hotel in the NoMad neighborhood, is kicking back Y2K style with a restaurant-and-bar experience that harkens back to the days when on-demand meant demanding your mom to drive you to the video store to rent a VHS. The "Back 2 the Video Store!" experience starts from $19.72 and includes a 90-minute reservation and one throwback cocktail named after hits like "Men in Black" and "Titanic" (rose syrup-infused, obviously). There's also a brunch option on the weekends with menu items like Blockbuster Buttermilk Pancakes, the Little Rascal Gem salad and, my favorite to say, the Hakuna Matata Frittata.

Just grab your tickets fast, as this experience runs through March 8.

Oberoi launches its first new property in 7 years

The Oberoi Vindhyavillas Wildlife Resort, Bandhavgarh in India. AMIT MEHRA/OBEROI

For those venturing to India this year, luxury brand Oberoi will debut its first opening in seven years — and this one is particularly special.

The Oberoi Vindhyavilas Wildlife Resort, Bandhavgarh will open in March in a region known for its significant density of tigers. The resort, with its 19 luxury tents (think: private gardens and floating decks), is just a stone's throw from Bandhavgarh National Park and Tiger Reserve, where guests can take day or nighttime jungle safaris led by expert naturalists before settling in for a meal at The Bush Kitchen, which offers sweeping views of a glimmering lake and the jungle beyond.

Rates at The Oberoi Vindhyavilas Wildlife Resort, Bandhavgarh will start around $465 per night.
