IHG members can earn and redeem points and enjoy on-property benefits at 43 Iberostar all-inclusive resorts
Editor's Note
IHG Hotels & Resorts announced a strategic alliance with Iberostar to add more all-inclusive resorts to its network in November 2022. As a result, IHG One Rewards members started earning points and enjoying on-property perks at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts properties in June 2023.
Members gained the ability to redeem IHG points at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts properties in December 2023. So, if you've got an all-inclusive stay on your mind, here's what you need to know about staying at an Iberostar Beachfront Resorts property as an IHG One Rewards member.
Perks at Iberostar properties

IHG One Rewards members will enjoy many of the perks they're used to getting at other IHG brands when staying at select Iberostar Beachfront Resorts properties. In particular, members can get the following benefits on eligible stays at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts:
- Early check-in (for Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members; subject to availability)
- Late checkout up to 2 p.m. (for all members; subject to availability)
- Complimentary upgrades (for Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members; subject to availability)
- Guaranteed room availability (for Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members)
- A welcome amenity at check-in (600 IHG One Rewards points or $15 hotel credit for Platinum Elite members; 600 IHG One Rewards points or $20 hotel credit for Diamond Elite members)
- Free internet (for all members)
- Priority check-in (at participating hotels)
- Lounge access, including use of Star Prestige facilities (when available and only for members with an annual lounge membership)
You can't currently use confirmable suite upgrades or food and beverage rewards at Iberostar Beachfront Resorts. Still, IHG's website says these perks will be available at participating properties in the future.
When paying a qualifying rate, IHG members will earn 10 points per dollar on eligible charges at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts. And, since IHG credit cards earn bonus points on qualifying purchases made at hotels participating in IHG One Rewards, you should earn bonus points when you use your IHG credit card at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts.
However, you must book your stay through one of the following channels to enjoy the perks detailed above:
- IHG's website or IHG One Rewards app
- IHG WeChat mini program
- IHG Customer Care
- Iberostar website
- Iberostar contact center
- IberostarPro
- Directly with an Iberostar Beachfront Resort
Be sure to log in to your IHG account or state your member number during the booking process to associate your IHG One Rewards member number with your booking.

Redeeming IHG points for Iberostar stays
You can also redeem IHG points for stays at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts. IHG uses dynamic award pricing, so you won't know how much a stay will cost until you search for a property and specific dates on the IHG website or app.
For example, you could book a four-night all-inclusive stay this April with free cancellation at the Iberostar Punta Cana for 316,000 IHG points or $1,026.64. Redeeming points would give you a redemption rate of just 0.32 cents per point, which is well below TPG's valuation of IHG points (and significantly lower than what I typically get when redeeming IHG points for stays).
You'll get a slightly higher redemption rate on some stays, though. For example, you could book a four-night all-inclusive stay this June with free cancellation at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall in an oceanfront butler suite for 648,000 points or $3,460.16. Doing so would give you a redemption rate of 0.53 cents per point, slightly higher than TPG's valuation of IHG points.
However, you can get a fourth-night-free reward if you redeem points for a stay of four nights or longer and have an eligible IHG credit card. I have the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card (see rates and fees), so my award cost for the previously mentioned four-night stay at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall would be 486,000 points. That's still a lot of points, but my redemption rate would jump to a respectable 0.71 cents per point after the fourth-night-free reward.

While you can theoretically use IHG anniversary night certificates at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts, you may run into issues since many Iberostar properties have minimum stay requirements.

Unlike most IHG award bookings, you'll need to pay local and conditional taxes and fees when you redeem points for Iberostar stays. Also, make sure to list the correct number of guests when booking your Iberostar stay, as you may be charged extra if you show up with more guests than are listed in your reservation.

Bottom line
It's good to see IHG integrating some Iberostar Beachfront Resorts into IHG One Rewards. As a result, IHG One Rewards members can enjoy many of the same perks they're used to receiving when staying at other IHG brands, including upgrades for eligible elite members and lounge access for members who chose an annual lounge membership through the IHG Milestone Rewards program.
I expect IHG to integrate more Iberostar properties into its loyalty program over the coming months and years. IHG has noted that it plans to add the ability to use food and beverage rewards and apply confirmable suite upgrades at participating Iberostar properties.
