Earn World of Hyatt points by staying in these glam New York treehouses
The childhood treehouse got a major glow-up at a tony resort in upstate New York — and you can earn World of Hyatt points by staying there.
The Chatwal Lodge, part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, opened three new "treehouses" — which are actually luxe cabins nestled 15 feet off the ground and among the trees — this week at the 100-acre resort a 2.5-hour drive north of New York City. The trio of elevated luxury accommodations features modern design and cozy furniture to lounge with a good book and soak in the views of the surrounding historic Chapin Estate.

The Chatwal Lodge's treehouses are a long way from what some of us may remember camping out in during childhood: Each 1,300-square-foot treehouse can sleep up to four guests and comes with a king-size bed on the main level, a loft with a queen-size Murphy bed, a living room with a wet bar and a covered balcony and exterior deck with a gas-powered fire pit. Bathrooms feature heated floors and Malin & Goetz products.
"The expansion of our accommodations at The Chatwal Lodge to include the newly built Treehouses delivers on our commitment to always putting the guest experience first," said Aaron Alexandar, general manager at The Chatwal Lodge, in a prepared statement. "These distinctive, secluded accommodations bring a new standard of immersive luxury to guests, marking a new beginning for our property while still honoring the fascinating history of The Chapin Estate."

Nightly rates start at $2,300, and while you can earn World of Hyatt points from a stay, award nights aren't currently available, a hotel spokesperson told TPG. We're hopeful this changes in the future, though.
The Chatwal Lodge remains an intimate, exclusive getaway: Along with the three new treehouses, the resort features only 11 suites and cottages. The resort leans into farm-to-table dining at Rustic Grill, which sources ingredients from Catskills farmers. Garden Bar & Lounge adds to the rustic, camp vibe of it all with a bar area around a crackling fireplace.

Of course, those staying in a treehouse may want to bask in their heightened fabulosity by just having room service delivered straight to their lofty perch.
The overall experience adds to Hyatt's ongoing push into luxury and lifestyle hotels with unique experiences. The Chatwal Lodge entered the Hyatt network as part of the Chicago-based hotel giant's acquisition of Dream Hotel Group, which included the Dream Hotels, Time Hotels, Uncharted Hotels and The Chatwal brands, last year.
The acquisition delivered a major step up for Hyatt in its presence in New York, but it also presented a challenge in that some of the hotels are showing signs of age. It's clear the addition of the treehouses at The Chatwal Lodge is a step forward in enhancing the properties.
A pool and spa concept at the resort is slated to also open later this year.
"The inspiration behind The Chatwal Lodge's Treehouses stemmed from taking the humble idea of a treehouse, which effectively is a 'room perched in tree canopy,' but elevating to the realm of luxury," said Robert Mallia, head of architecture and construction for Dream Hotels at Hyatt, in a statement. "In keeping with the rest of the unique accommodations at the property, the calming design of these Treehouses cultivates an effortless escape that is enveloped by nature."
