Few places on the West Coast conjure up California beach vibes like Santa Monica, famous for its ride-filled pier, busy shopping streets and beautiful ocean views.

Lately, Santa Monica has experienced a bit of a hotel renaissance, with a slew of exciting new hotel openings in the works from high-end brands like Regent and Marriott's independent Autograph Collection.

But now the former Le Meridien Delfina Santa Monica has reflagged as the Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica and is available to book with World of Hyatt points.

Even better for folks looking for an affordable trip to the beach, the hotel will undergo a $16 million phased refurbishment (during which it will stay open) across its 315 rooms, lobby and thousands of square feet of meeting space this fall. Plus, it'll debut a new dining and bar experience.

The hotel also has an outdoor pool for guests to enjoy, as well as a fitness center.

In terms of booking, cash rates start around $300 per night, while this Category 6 World of Hyatt property can be booked starting at 21,000 points per night. Right now, the hotel is offering 15% off with the code "15OFF" or 17% off for World of Hyatt members who use the code "MBRS15." The discounts are valid until Oct. 31.

This reflagging represents Hyatt's first hotel in Santa Monica, though the company is well represented across Los Angeles with hotels like Thompson Hollywood, Andaz West Hollywood and The Shay in Culver City, among many others.

Planting roots in Santa Monica is a smart move for any hotel brand right now, as some of the most exciting hotel projects in the country have travelers watching the area's development.

One of the most anticipated new hotels in the U.S. is IHG's Regent Santa Monica Beach. Set to be Regent's flagship property in the Americas, the former Lowes hotel has undergone a $150 million overhaul to create a modern hotel that exudes California cool and laid-back luxury.

Earlier this year, Sandbourne Santa Monica, part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, opened the doors to its Gulla Jónsdóttir-designed hotel, giving Marriott Bonvoy members a new coastal retreat to book.

And with a slew of other hotels, like Hilton's Oceana Santa Monica, it's not a bad time to head to Santa Monica on points and miles.
